3D Map Data (MAPCUBE)

MAPCUBE is a 3D city model that highly precisely recreates the relief of the terrain, as well as the height, exterior, and color of buildings, resulting in a realistic and compelling model. This 3D digital map has a wide variety of applications, including urban planning and landscape design, view simulation and disaster prevention simulation, car navigation and people navigation systems, journalism, and games.

What is MAPCUBE?

MAPCUBE boasts a high degree of precision, with horizontal precision of ±70 cm and vertical precision of ±30 cm. It comprises 3D data content that can be used for a wide variety of applications, from analysis and simulation, to contents for entertainment purposes.

The area covered includes the 23 wards in Metropolitan Tokyo as well as ordinance-designated cities throughout Japan. As it uses a generic format (OBJ format), it is compatible with many types of software

Sales Format and Prices

Data Provision Patterns

1. Sale of rights to use data (In-house use)

The customer purchases the data rights for this digital map, and uses the data in-house.

2. Sale of rights to use data (secondary use)

The customer purchases the data rights with the aim of using this digital map data to create secondary works, and then sells or licenses these works to a third party.

3. Sale of data output

The customer purchases only the images output (static or moving images) from this digital map data.

[Shape Model]

This is a 3D shape model constructed based on laser surveying data from aircraft, vector maps with 1/2,500 precision, and aerial photographed data. It is able to recreate 3D urban features to a high degree of accuracy, including architectural structures, expressways, and railways on uneven terrain/ground.

1.Sale of rights to use data (In-house use)

Basic data usage fees: Approx. ¥20,000 to ¥600,000/km2
(Changes depending on the area purchased)
(Eg.) Minato-ku: Approx. ¥5,800,000 (Approx. ¥290,000/km2)
(Eg.) 23 wards in Metropolitan Tokyo: Approx. ¥31,500,000 (Approx. ¥50,000/km2)
*The above are prices for one client CPU.
The prices will be twice the figures stated above in the case of multi-clients.
*Separate basic operation costs will be incurred.

2.Sale of rights to use data (secondary use)

The customer purchases the data rights with the aim of using this digital map data to create secondary works, and then sells or licenses these works to a third party.

3.Sale of data output

The customer purchases only the images output (static or moving images) from this digital map data.

This is a 3D shape model with a simulated texture. Textures (aerial image on the rooftops) are created based on simulations of shape models, and pasted on.

Basic data usage fees: Approx. ¥30,000 to ¥900,000/km2
*The above are prices for one client CPU. The prices will be twice the figures stated above in the case of multi-clients.
*Separate basic operation costs will be incurred.

2.Sale of rights to use data (secondary use)

Depends on consultation based on the customer’s business model.

3. Sale of data output

The price is further discounted from the selling price for sale of rights to use data.
*This is a shape model with a simulated texture pasted onto it. The texture is based on patterns that are, to a certain extent, fixed.

This is a 3D textured model. It is created by pasting architectural wall textures along main station areas and roads onto a shape model. It can convey a city’s expression intuitively.
*The shape model of an area is also required when the texture model is used.

Basic data usage fees: Approx. ¥200,000/km2
*The above are prices for one client CPU. The prices will be twice the figures stated above in the case of multi-clients.
*Separate basic operation costs will be incurred.

This is a 3D textured model that presents typical architectural structures and public facilities through realistic CG data.
Based on technological skills developed over a long period of time, we have achieved a high degree of precision that brings the model as close to reality as possible. This model has a wide variety of applications, such as car navigation systems, people navigation systems, urban planning and town information, and real estate listings.

2. Sale of rights to use data (secondary use)

Depends on consultation, based on the customer’s business model.

3. Sale of data output

The price is further discounted from the selling price for sale of rights to use data.

Data Format and Compatible Software

Data Format

The data is provided in the standard computer graphic (CG) format known as the OBJ format. The file composition is as follows.

obj file

A file that describes the shapes of structures and the ground

mtl file

A file that defines materials such as the color of the shape, texture images, etc.

bmp file/jpeg file

Image files for textures defined in the mtl file

Customers that wish to have the data provided in other formats, including VRML, OpenFlightFormat, and DXF (shape models only). Please inquire for conversion to other formats.

Compatible Software

Currently, the following software packages are verified compatible.

  • AutoCAD
    (*However, import is in the DXF format. Materials cannot be imported.)

It is, in principle, compatible with software other than those listed above.
