Creating
a Safe and Comfortable World
PASCO launched its overseas
business in 1963, when it won
the contract to finalize the
border in the neutral zone between
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, after
competing with other leading
surveying companies in the world.
We were also the first private
surveying company in Japan to
get a direct order from a foreign
government.
Since then, we have been involved
in the creation of national
base maps and the building of
GIS for many countries in Asia,
Africa, Central and South America,
Europe, and the former Commonwealth
of Independent States (CIS).
Some of these projects helped
assist in the recovery of nations
exhausted by conflict. Now we
provide our technology accumulated
in Japan to foreign countries
through our worldwide network.
Human resource development and technology transfers to overseas countries
We
respond to a variety of needs
in different areas in the world
using the most appropriate technology
we have, including digital mapping
with aerial photography, the
creation of topographic maps
from satellite data, and highly
accurate 3-D modeling with aerial
digital sensing.
The topographic map, a basic
element of developing any country,
covers not only topographic
information such as land elevation,
rivers, and vegetation patterns,
but also information on land
use, including agriculture,
commercial area and river basin.
The map is also indispensable
when planning projects or land
development, for example to
identify a river system, select
potential sites for a new dam
or for agricultural development,
design a structure such as a
bridge or tunnel, or plan for
forestry management.
The map data acquisition and
mapping technologies have advanced
greatly in recent years. Responding
to the needs of the times, we
are also active in sending our
engineers abroad to help in
the development of local human
resources and organize training
programs for foreign engineers
in Japan.
Protecting national land (disaster prevention)
PASCO's
surveying, construction consulting,
and GIS technologies contribute
to the establishment of a safe
and comfortable life for people
all over the world.
We develop databases, simulate
natural disasters, conduct analysis,
and create hazard maps as countermeasures
against earthquakes, tidal waves,
floods, volcanic eruption, or
other natural disasters.
These services assist in drawing
up evacuation plans risk management
policies.
Protecting national
assets (cadastral and capital
asset information)
We
provide aerial photography,
digital orthoimages, cadastral
mapping, and GIS configuration
with a combined database of
cadastral and capital asset
information, in order to protect
the financial administration
of individual nations.
We are also actively engaged
in World Bank-funded projects
for developing a cadastral and
capital asset information system
in Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa,
and Central and South America.
Protecting
World Heritage sites (surveying
ancient monuments and cultural
properties)
How
can we protect ancient monuments
that now disappearing? PASCO's
advanced technology can provide
a solution to the problem.
We contribute to the management,
maintenance, and restoration
of World Heritage sites, typified
by the Valley of the Kings or
the Bamiyan Buddha statues,
by providing our cutting-edge
technologies such as topographic
maps from a macro perspective,
and precise 3-D measurement
from a micro perspective.
